finally get a hand on this master piece!
its a Sweden novel written by
Stieg Larssonfirst time seeing it at the local book store while i was wandering around..
just by reading the reviews, i knew this would be awesome novel to be had
and it doesn't disappoint me till the end
the story was about a journalist (love this guy!) Mikael
'Kalle' Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander (she's my favorite heroine now, kick a**!). the Kalle nickname was given by the press (in the novel) from a detective story in Sweden. good linking..
they both running a investigation of 40 years cold case of Harriet Vanger disappearance. Harriet was the heir of one of the most powerful enterprise in Sweden. while Blomkvist was a sharp journalist, Salander is a hacker with photographic memory, how amazing is that!
this novel had won a whole bunch of awards and made it as one of the best novel in Sweden (also in the world)
among its awards are best crime novel of the year 2006 in
Glass Key Award. It also won the 2008
Boeke Prize, and in 2009 the Galaxy British Book Awards for Books Direct Crime Thriller of the Year, and the prestigious Anthony Award for Best First Novel. Larsson was also awarded the
ITV3 Crime Thriller Award for International Author of the Year in 2008.
He was the second best-selling author in the world in 2008, behind
Khaled Hosseini. By March 2010, his Millennium trilogy had sold 27 million copies in more than 40 countries. O_o
like wow!
this baby is big!
they also already made the movie version (which i already have in hand - thanks to my blazing speed Internet, har har)
and you better believe it, Hollywood already set their eyes on it, and planning on making its American version by 2011
wooho!
by the way this novel is the first part on the
trilogythe sequel is
The Girl Who Played with Fire and
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' NestI'm currently reading the second part
due to some annoying reason, i bought translated version of the first book, while the other books was English version
gotta give credit to the book store who didn't have another copy of translated ones..
oh don't worry tough..
their both stunningly awesome
and when i had the chance i will buy the translated version *sigh*
the only downfall (or should i say the most shocking part) is Larsson died from heart attack not long after he sent the manuscript of his novel. WHAT!?!?!?!
yes he did, he's not disappeared somewhere and we need to hire Salander (if she does exist..) to track him down..
the third sequel was written based on his data on his notebook, can you believe that?!
or should we wait for another 40 years to solve his death?
